Transitioning careers can be daunting, especially when it means starting over in a new country or industry. At Criteo Campus, we celebrate these bold moves and provide a space for growth. We recently sat down with Hannah, an apprentice, to hear about her shift from law in the Philippines to sustainability at Criteo Paris.
Tell us about your background before Criteo.
I began my career as a lawyer in the Philippines, advocating for consumer rights while working in consultancy. Wanting to broaden my horizons, I pursued an MBA in the Netherlands, then moved to Paris, where I immersed myself in the culture and studied sustainable project management. That journey led me to Criteo!
That is quite a journey! Could you share your experience with the interview process and how it shaped your expectations about working at Criteo?
The interview process was seamless and super well-structured, in my opinion. The HR team did a great job of explaining each step and giving me a glimpse into Criteo’s culture, which made me even more excited to join.
There was one aspect I can think of early on that required a bit of extra navigation. At the beginning, there was some complexity around my specific type of apprenticeship contract, which caused a slight delay. The team worked with HR and legal to understand my specific situation and ensure everything was in place. It reassured me to see how committed they were to finding the right solution.
At Criteo, you get to work with diverse teams from markets all over the world, which gives you unique insights into different cultures and business practices. That global perspective left a lasting impression on me and shaped my expectations about the level of collaboration and innovation here. Since joining, my experience has gone above and beyond what I imagined.
Can you share a little more insight on sustainability at Criteo and why it's important to you?
As for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), I was and continue to be super impressed by Criteo’s strong commitment to sustainability. Achievements like being the first AdTech company to have its carbon emission reduction targets approved by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and recognition by EcoVadis really show its leadership in this area.
Sustainability is something that’s really personal to me. Coming from the Philippines—a country heavily impacted by climate change—I’ve seen firsthand the devastating effects of rising sea levels and frequent typhoons. Those experiences shaped my connection to nature and strengthened my values of responsibility and stewardship. Criteo’s actionable approach to sustainability really resonates with those values, and it makes me proud to be part of the team.
What are you eager to learn in the coming year?
I’m excited to deepen my understanding of sustainability strategies and lead projects that create lasting impact, aligning with the EU’s objectives and responsible business practices. Luckily, it’s been made clear to me at Criteo that even as an apprentice, this kind of impact is a possibility for me.
Do you have any advice for other apprentices at Criteo about balancing school and work life?
My advice? Have fun and embrace the learning experience! Stay curious, ask lots of questions, and don’t be afraid to think outside the box. At the same time, staying organized and setting clear priorities is key, especially balancing school and work. And remember, it’s okay to ask for support when you need it—Criteo’s culture is so supportive, so make the most of the resources available to you.
Most importantly, enjoy the process and celebrate the small wins along the way!
